I was issued a IBA and IOTV in the army.

I looked into AR-500 plates, I like what I saw.

Is there any other brands out there making comparable plates?

Plate carriers, anyone have any recommendations?

I bought an AR500 set-up......I like it but it is HEAVY with steel plates. However, ceramic plates are even more......and level III or IIIA soft armor is unobtanium for me.

Ive got a Condor Gunner plate carrier with AR500 level3 curved plates.
Ive worn it a few times around the house for a little bit, but it just sits in the closet. Its ready to go with mag pouches full & a horizontal pistol holster.

I've got a plate carrier with AR500 and done the same. Also walked a block to the mailbox with it. The plates are heavy but they will stop a 308. Like my fire extinguisher it sits tucked away hopefully never to be put in use.

Found out about these folks the other day. After watching multiple and various videos on their products, and reading some of the write-ups, I'm very seriously considering giving these guys my business.

Edit to add: A company rep. called me this past Sunday, about two hours after I had sent an email full of questions. They were all answered well beyond the basic yes/no stuff. And well beyond my expectations.

I'm curious about these AR500 plates, are they covered in a spawl liner?

They are sprayed with LineX bed liner.

Used IIIA soft armor can be had REALLY cheap. It is almost always past it’s “expiration date”. The NIJ has publicly stated that armor, when kept dry and out of direct sunlight, does not break down over time.

I was referring to the Ultra lite plates that are a new polly material they are using...UHMWPE type.

The level 4 plates are about 170 each. I meant the vests. "soft" body armor
The rma front & back is $270

These are hybrid, Alumina and poly, so not too heavy and you can get class IV for $99 too at 6 lbs.
The site says 5.5 lbs but it's 6 lbs, still light though.

Plenty of videos out there if you are worried about quality/ if they work

I don't sell any and do not have any affiliation with any sites, just trying to help out if you are looking for something lighter than AR500 and you are not a rich movie star (I am not rich either)

The IIIa+Multi threat vest with the IIIa+ tactical side straps come in about $660.00, with the 10% discount code that I was told about when I was on the phone with them, from the place I linked to earlier. It may not be perfect but, there are pockets front and back to insert plates in, if that becomes necessary.

That's about the price of a decent rifle or pistol. And they offer some kind of payment plan that breaks it up into four (4) or six (6) payments. The lady on the phone said four, and the website said six. I dunno.

Forgot to add discount code. SECURITY For a 10% discount at checkout.

I also think "DACHIEF" was one of the others I saw. There were others, I just don't recall what they were.
