    Geez, this rhetoric again? For one, the Russian military buys few if any AK-47s since they converted to the AK-74 nearly 40 years ago. Secondly, most Americans can only buy semi-auto versions of the AK, which are completely different animals than what the military uses.

    That said, AK sales are definitely rising but there are a number of factors that could be causing it...the upcoming elections are one, recent events another; but also included are the fact that the AR market has saturated in comparison thus making AKs more desirable and tougher to find.

    Plus, Americans buy more of these rifles because are laws aren't as Draconian as most other countries when it comes to purchasing firearms.

    Once again, the media is making news into something it isn't...

    These weapons are being converted to nail guns fitted with telescopic sights and auutomatic operation. As they are not firearms but building and construction equipment they do not need a licence. There are now 30 miillion of them spread across the USA I am told.
