Well its mostly because the good ones are so hard to find .. I got mine that was straight from a 1943 TULA factory and the barrel was in great condition... I've tried to keep it that way, so if you get one with great quality it's much more respectful to keep it original. A cheap crappy one no one minds you sporterizing it.
