California sues Trump administration over addition of citizenship question to census
By Samantha Schmidt March 27 at 5:40 AM

"The state of California sued the Trump administration Monday night, arguing that the decision to add a question about citizenship in the 2020 Census violates the U.S. Constitution. The state’s attorney general acted just after the Commerce Department announced the change in a late-night release."

"The suit is just the start of what is likely to be a broader battle with enormous political stakes that pits the administration against many Democratic states, which believe that the citizenship question will reduce the response rate for the census and produce undercounts. As a result, opponents say, states with significant immigrant populations stand to lose seats in state legislatures and Congress, along with electoral college votes in presidential elections and federal funding based on census counts."

They are mad that it will make voter fraud more difficult? Maybe they should just let other countries to vote by mail while they are at it.

They are part of the dem voting base there.
The ILLEGAL portion of the voting Dem. base. The liberals intentionally leave off that pivotal word and it's our responsibility to constantly remind them of that, will you please help?

'Proof of Citizenship' Voting Laws May Surge Under Trump

According to the above, only 3 states require proof of citizenship to vote:
    Alabama, Arizona, and Kansas

Texas is not one of them. Let's clean up the home front first.

They are not citizens and they are here illegally. Sounds like that’s a very necessary question to me.
Just to clarify, they aren't citizens but that doesn't necessarily mean they are here illegally. But the point remains, we have an absolute need to know because Congressional representation, among other things, depends on it. How this is even in dispute is mind boggling.

Could lose funding and senate seats and electoral college votes. Well Duh! Isn’t that the purpose of the census?

    AustinN4,

We can all HOPE that lots of taxpayer's funds do NOT go to CA or anyplace else including TX to support ILLEGAL aliens.

It’s obvious to the most casual observer that legal, non-citizen immigrants are NOT the problem. Clearly California’s inherit objection to the question being asked, has its basis in their “sanctuary” movement (i.e., protecting illegal immigrants).

Thankfully, some locales are somewhat. coming to their senses.

Orange County, where I grew up, has filed suit against the state’s sanctuary status. They’re now cooperating with ICE.

“The move comes a day after the County Sheriff's Department announced that it will make public a list of when inmates are released from custody.”

Not if you live in CA it isn't. Motor voter law here allows illegals to register to vote.

Although, it doesn't really matter anyway. My wife is a Japanese citizen. She went with me to the polls while I voted. The folks at the polling place kept encouraging her to vote even though she repeatedly told them she's not a U.S. citizen. That place is one big earthquake away from being a really nice state.
