ONE excellent reason to put ANTIQUE plates on a vehicle is that you can register the car/truck for FIVE years (instead of one) & at about HALF the price. = My 1984 300CD was driven about FIVE HUNDRED MILES total in 2016 & about half of that was in a 4-day period for the Mercedes show-tour.= "Can you say, 'trailer queen', children?"

My 1986 300SDL was driven about FIFTY miles in 2016, as it is awaiting restoration & right now cannot be driven, as it's "taken apart".

My 1986 F250 XLT Lariat "Special Edition" diesel (with 54,000 total one-owner miles) was driven about 300 miles in 2016, until it was utterly DESTROYED by a drunk driver, while it was parked awaiting yet another Ford tour/show at San Jacinto Battlefield Park.
(Every time that I think about that awful night, I'm just very SAD, as the PU, imo, is irreplaceable & looked like NEW. = It was NOT restored but was in MINT, as built, shape.)
