I am 18 and a resident in San Antonio. I have been told it is ok to have a shotgun in my car with shells in the magazine but not the chamber. Now a friend has told me that San Antonio passed an ordinance that says you cannot have a firearm in your vehicle unless it is in your trunk.. I am so confused about the laws on this please help,

    Thanks,

You can carry it with shells in the magazine and chamber.

SA has several ordinances which are illegal by State law and not enforceable, but the ordinance prohibiting firearm carry on roadways only applies to persons under 17 years old.

Texas law makes no distiction between a loaded and unloaded firearm. Under the presumption that all firearms are always loaded, when put to the scrutiny of persecution.

Don't forget your defense: "I read it on the internet!"
Maybe you could print this thread out for proof.

Honestly, if you want to know about Texas gun laws, why not look up Texas law?
Perhaps the DPS website might have something.
