I am in the process of relocating to Austin and I currently have a valid AZ CCW. I understand that TX has a reciprocity agreement (like many other states) with AZ. Once my Texas residency is established (ASAP), I will be applying for my TX CCW immediately. My question, however, is whether or not I can legally carry with my AZ permit once I establish TX residency even though I could carry before as a non-resident.
I feel like the legal answer would be no, otherwise people would just apply for whatever permits were easiest to get (such as AZ) as non-residents that had reciprocal agreements with their home state and just carry with those. Am I correct in assuming that once I establish residency here, I am no-go to carry (except for in my car, I believe?) until my TX permit arrives?
I am sure this question has been covered somewhere before, my delirious brain just can't figure out the query.
