The Corpus Christi Independent school district reacting today to news of the arrest of one of it's teachers.
The 34 year old teacher is now in the Nueces county jail charged with indecency with a child.
But now comes news of changes in the way background checks are conducted at C.C.I.S.D.

IIRC the news last night (this article) said teachers in service for over 30 years would be exempt from termination if something was found in their background.

I think if they have a set criteria.. you did this, this is what will happen , for example if you have a conviction for child molestation and slipped through the cracks you should be fired no matter how long you have been employed5,10, 20, 30+ yrs.
