Thank you sir. May try that recipe this weekend if the Misses will let me out of some Honey Do's! Got all of what you used except the Federal brass. But have plenty of LC brass. Should be close enough.

LC brass was a major disappointment. 1.5" groups. Same prep and treatment.
    But good luck anyway.

Try working up to a lighter load with the LC brass. Tighter neck tension, thicker brass Soon as I use up my Varget, I'll switch exclusively to the CFE 223 and CFE Pistol. I love it.

That's what I was thinking. I love Varget too, just not the way it meters in Dillon press. I loaded up a bunch of test loads a while back with CFE223 but got to the range and found I had loaded the bullets out to 2.3. So, back to the drawing board.

Haven't shot any yet, but damn, that CFE223 meters unbelievably well out of my Lyman #55. I weighed every charge of 40+ I just loaded and with my crappy scale they were all +/- 0.1 grains.

Yes sir. Ya done steered me straight again. Since it's supposed to rain here until Saturday afternoon, I'll be chomping at the bit to go to the range and fire a few of those bad-boys off.

Ok, time to revive this thread.

Finally got out yesterday and tested CFE223 in my ARP .223 Wylde barrels. I shot a .75" group at 100 yards with 25.0 grs of CFE223 powder, 69 gr Nosler Custom Comp bullets, Fed AR Match primers, Lake City once fired brass with a 2.25 COAL. Happy camper. I may just go with that load and call it a day.

I have heard great things about CFE 223. Taking all avenues to simplify my life, and powder selections, I thought I would give it a try for accuracy loads for coyotes with my Rem700 Varmint, shooting Good bullets and for high volume training loads with the AR's using South African crappy bullets.

I have found it to be highly accurate, easy and spot on metering, and easy cleanup. Its simple, and effective.

My GO TO powder for 223's & 5.56.

I'm not using it, as I have a ton of H335 that I am using for my 55g bullets. But I see tons of that powder at Academy every time I go there. $26 / lb.

They have it here in San Marcos. Just loaded another batch of rounds with it. I'm still amazed how it meters.

I go into the ones in Frisco (off Tollway and the one on Preston just north of the Stonebriar mall). I'll have to check them out since thats good price. I usually hit Gunmaster when I'm looking for powder locally. They usually have a good selection.

Plano 75 location had 3 or 4 cans on the shelf early this week.
