I was showing my daughter a rifle I’m putting together the other day, and I mentioned to her that I still needed to get a scope for it. Well she called later that day and said she ordered me a present. It ended up being a $30 scope off Amazon. She doesn’t know anything about rifles or scopes so she thought she had just found a bargain. I thanked her and thought, if nothing else I can put it on one of my other plinkers. Saw a couple reviews for it on YouTube so I threw it on one of my AR’s and went to the range today. At 100 yards it’s pretty damn good! Had it zeroed in with 6 shots and was shooting 2-3” groups after that.

So....it's an inexpensive scope, not a cheap scope..

Much better wording! It’s definitely pretty well constructed. It also has red or green illumination, which looks cool but the reticle itself was clear enough for me to see today, so I didn’t use it.

    Along with the young lady.

20+ years ago my youngest bought me a skillet for for Christmas. He had $50 to spend on 6 people. The skillet was $2. My girlfriend was pissed for some reason.
I still use that damn skillet. One of the best I have ever had.....

That young lady deserves a big hug.

Sweet girl. My oldest bought me a small beer fridge for my office. Not a word, just showed up in the big brown truck of happiness one day.

All my kids are awesome like that. When they were younger they all got a small allowance. Most of it got spent on nonsense like toys and stuff, but every year at Xmas they saved up to make sure they could get their mom and me presents. I actually found out that my daughter got herself a handgun last week. She got a Sig 9mm (not sure which one) I’m not sure she even knew that I have guns. When she still lived at home I didn’t have any, and I’ve never really talked to her about them so it was kinda surprising. That’s why I was showing her my collection. She says she’s signed up for a conceal permit class in January. We’re gonna try and get together to go shooting one day this week.

We got a priceless gift from our oldest daughter still living with us. Shes a sophomore at TWU.

We asked her what she wanted for Christmas. She said you know, there is nothing I've ever wanted or needed that you didnt make sure I had or helped me get it. I know you guys went without to do that.

We were stunned. Kids dont usually loose the know it all I'm the center of my universe stage till their 20s. I guess all the holes in underwear and socks jokes and raggedy clothes we wore finally hit home.

All that hard work and sacrifice paid off in the best possible way. They wernt spoiled and only got stuff they didnt need on birthdays and Christmas. The rest of the time they only got necessities. If they wanted more they had to pay for it them selves so they understood how much things cost and the work needed to get them.

    Anyways that's priceless to me.

    That's great. Good on her.

As far as the scope goes, many affordable scopes do just fine if used within reason. A reminder of the ones we love is always a good thing.
