In Steam (when you get it installed)

Click STEAM (top left)

SETTINGS

STEAM PLAY

ENABLE STEAM PLAY FOr SUPPORTED TITLES (chck mark that)

ENABLE STEAM PLAY FOR ALL OTHER TITLES (check mark that)

Run other titles with.. I use proton experimental but I believe 6.3-8 works on anything

I already started playing Bannerlord with the settings all the way up. It was sweet! The file management is a PITA but I saw that there are other apps that can handle that more windowsy.

Thanks for the link, think I'll try that Oracle V machine to run it.

I've enjoyed running ubuntu in the windows native V machine. Lost this capability after a reload some time ago and can't seem to find the super simple installation .exe that sets it all up.
I found the latest windows hyper-v activation comes with several mostly configured ubuntu's including the latest version 20. A little fiddling gets the wireless to work but nothing gets me any sound and that is with any of the several versions of "mostly configured" vm's that hyper-v comes with. Time for the oracle v'player I suppose.
(my machine is 8 years old but was top of the line back then: I7 3.5 ghz 32gb mem)

Oh, the 2016 internet says: "Lack of audio support in Hyper-V for Linux is one of several trade offs of using Linux guests on Hyper-V hosts."
Can't believe Microsoft has not solved this by now.
