First sentence "Gunmen opened fire on a Southeast Side park, killing a 17-year-old boy and wounding three others in a neighborhood that hasn't seen a slaying since last summer, Chicago police said this morning." that's a good thing?

"The teen's death was the first recorded homicide in the small Jeffery Manor neighborhood in nearly a year." again

Why anyone would live there and be shocked by this?

A lot of 17 year olds who get shot aren't boys but young men who made a decision to live a certain kind of lifestyle. Not saying that's the case here, but the potential for spin seems to be present.

i moved here from Chicago in December, and cannot say i would enjoy being back there. they did lift the pistol ban from the city when the new mayor took office if i remember correctly?? anything towards the south-side is pretty rough. i know Marquette park is a pretty tough neighborhood so not having a slaying in a year is a pretty good run. I hated having my 2nd amendment rights restricted, or basically non existent when i lived there.

The irony of the post, Illinois has some of the strictist gun laws and yet Chicago had more shootings in 5 hours than Houston did all week. Don't gun control freaks read the facts? Obiviously not...

A buddy of mine is an insurance adjuster. When there is some sort of mass weather event that has lots of claims his insurance company requires that he be escorted by the police dept at all times. Chicago is the only city in the country where he has this issue.
