I built this years ago for a competition. Won first place in my division. It's a suitcase style collapsing gun rack. I'm curious. If I were to make these as a hobby and sell them. What would you honestly pay for one? I had considered $200-$300 depending on materials used.
This one is made from pine
Feel free to give any suggestions on how to improve it or selling/building tips

    Looks like a pretty cool.

Can't guess at the value as I don't have much use for one. I've seen some pretty cool setup in the Cowboy Action circles though so there could be a market for it.

Maybe make it look like an old ammo or USGI rifle crate?

Nice! It would seem, as you said, be of more use in competitions and I would gear any changes of looks towards those whom you are marketing. I would say that the $200 - $300 range seems reasonable.

Just to clarify, the top piece comes loose, and the uprights fold with hinges into their respective sides?
    Very cool, and well done!

The two arms are hinged and the top is separate yes.

I like the idea. Is the top part of the rack cut on an angle at the arms so there's no twist in the uprights? I'd build it with box joints - gives a lot of strength and fairly easy to do with a jig on a table saw.

    Great idea!

But not for Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS). Shooters are constantly moving every 30-60 minutes to a new shooting stage. That’s why they use gun carts.

Also very few Cowboy ranges have a level place to set up unless you bring your own table. We’re talking a PIA here.

Now for vendors, that’s a different story. Absolutely perfect! For them, dressed up like a Wells Fargo stagecoach box would be awesome.

Sorry about attachments, I tried deleting to realign the post and it went fubar on me.
