[h=1]Colorado Lawmaker Announces Abrupt Resignation, Becomes the Third Pro-Gun Control Dem. Out of Office[/h]Nov. 27, 2013 2:18pm Becket Adams [h=4][/h]

Colorado state Sen. Evie Hudak announced Wednesday that she is resigning from office “effective immediately,” signaling that she would rather step down than lose a recall election over her support for more stringent gun laws in her state.

Loss of a recall election would result in Republicans gaining control of the state senate.
News of her impending resignation, which was first reported by KDVR-TV, would seem to throw a wrench into earlier hopes that Colorado would serve as a blueprint for a nationwide push for more gun laws.
“In the interest of preserving the progress made over the last year, I am resigning as state senator for district 19, effective immediately,” Hudak said in her letter of resignation.
Hudak’s early exit means she avoids becoming the third Democrat to face a tough recall election after supporting the state’s new gun control laws.
Democratic state Sens. John Morse and Angela Giron tried to fight their recall elections but were both booted from office and replaced with Republicans.
Hudak and fellow Democrats reportedly believed recall efforts against her would have been successful. After conferring with top Colorado Democrats, the state senator finalized her decision to resign late Tuesday, according to KDVR-TV.
“Most Coloradans believe that the convenience of high-capacity ammunition magazines is less important than saving lives in tragedies like Sandy Hook, Aurora and Columbine,” Hudak said in her resignation letter. “That’s why I sponsored SB 13-197, a bill that takes guns out of the hands of domestic abusers. … By resigning, I am protecting these important new laws.”
Before she announced her resignation, Hudak opponents were busy collecting signatures for the Dec. 3 deadline. Opponents had reportedly collected 92 percent of the signatures needed to force a special recall election, organizer Mike McAlpine told radio host Mike Rosen this week.
But by resigning early, Hudak has ensured that the Democratic vacancy committee will appoint someone to take her place. This keeps the state Senate in Democratic hands until at least November, when Hudak’s replacement will be forced to stand for election.
Colorado Democrat Rep. Tracy Kraft could serve as a possible replacement for Hudak, KDVR-TV notes, but it is unclear whether the congresswoman would give up her seat for the resigning senator.

Good for the people of Colorado. This shows that when you go against the will of the people you will pay the price. I look for November to be a turn around for Colorado.

I love how she twists things around in typical liberal fashion and pretends that anyone intent on murder will care about an illegal 30 rnd magazine.

Also funny how she claims most supported the laws while they get their asses handed to them in recall elections for supporting them, even with money flooding in trying to keep the seats rented.

It all goes to show how out of touch they really are man. Also it proves that they think they know better than us average citizens.

They don't believe in reality because the mental blinders they wear won't let them see it. To them "reality" is just something conservatives toss around in order to pass and enforce racist, homophobic, wealthy protecting laws.

They absolutely think they are better than we average citizens.

Exactly, and we all know that every one of us conservative people on here are wealthy, lol. It drives me nuts that they dont get it...or rather they refuse to get it.

It blows their mind when they come across a conservative that isn't "wealthy". They cannot explain it without showing the fruitlessness of their agenda. So they don't. They just make us all out to be wealthy uncaring folks who could care less about anyone or anything.

For as long as I can remember, they have been stating that conservatives are all wealthy because they need to keep up the class warfare that gets them votes.
Very simply, If every man and woman tomorrow decided to think of themselves as an individual within their society and build from there, I'm convinced no one would vote democrat. They certainly wouldn't consider any part of socialism as even remotely ideal.

But the liberal's have to keep the poor and downtrodden believing that they are safe in numbers and that nothing can be accomplished without somebody else's help, who usually turns out being government or government related.

The entire liberal principle would implode without constituents feeling useless and ineffective.

This isn't good because now the dems get to appoint her replacement vs letting the people vote in her replacement.

It seems like the cowards way out. rather then face recall and put in a republican she resigns and puts in a democrat until next november. so they dont loose control of the senate. I am sure she was promised a bunch of things for her to resign.
