Back when television sets were still manufactured in America, the Japanese bragged that they were in a trade war against us, and sold TV’s in America, shipped half way around the world, at a lower price than the same sets sold for in Japan.

There was well proven collusion that members of the US Congress helped Japan to destroy the American TV Industry.

Now a tremendous amount of electronics and other junk items come from Communist China.

The Communist Government of Red China has also waged an economic war against us, subsidizing their shipping heavily to a point that American Industry can not compete against Chinese Communist Industry on an even footing.

Now the Communist Chinese Government has dropped shipping rates for Communist made Chinese junk all the way down to ZERO!

If that does not do it for Communist Chinese Industry Vs. American Industry, then I guess they will start paying the Communist Factory Managers a bonus for shipping ALL their products to America!

Their next step might be to give away their Commie junk for FREE, from now until when ALL AMERICAN INDUSTRY IS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND AMERICAN CITIZENS HAVE TO DEPEND ON COMMUNIST CHINA FOR ALL MANUFACTURED GOODS, AND PERHAPS FOOD AS WELL.

If they manage to do exactly that, then remember to thank your local Congressman who made it all possible!

old news... when I was in China it was a common joke amongst expats that the Chinese own so much of the American economy they can now legally have American citizens as pets ;)

What helps is a consorted effort to buy American made goods, it's not like a movement or anything... just national pride. With the exception of the auto industry... I don't think I've owned an American gas guzzler since 2001.

Of course that may have something to do with the fact that US import demand has dropped considerably. So in a sense, we can kill Chinese imports by killing our economy?

I think you are reading into it wrong. They are lowering already subsidized rates in hopes of actually shipping product. The entire overall demand is low for the product. Lowering prices on shipping will have a minute effect on the actual goods themselves since it's a relatively low amount of cost per unit. Think of how many TV's can be stuffed inside of a 40' container.

Simply raising tariff rates with a special schedule for China, and neighboring countries like Singapore, would regulate pricing in our market.

US companies are being priced out by a number of factors, not just Chinese subsidy.

The problem remains that Americans, and Europeans, enjoy cheap Chinese goods. Too many people in this country simply buy cheap things because they are cheap. Regardless of the fact that they are sub-standard in quality.

I buy Texas made products whenever possible.

I will buy Made in Dixie, if no Texas made product is available.

I kinda hate to do it, but I sometimes buy something from up there in the Union.

Next I look for a Canadian, Australian, or European made product.

We all have to take a good look at the seeds we are planting for our Children's future.
