My G36 isn't hard to handle with most factory loads. It does take a little getting used to. That being said, if you load it with those +P Cor-bons, it gets to be a real handful. It doesn't take too much of that to be all I want at any one time.

You might like the Glock 30. It's a little wider than the G36, so it may be easier on your hand.

Same with Max, the Kimber UCII, I have one in stainless. I put a set of Houge wraparound grips on mine and it shoots like a champ, actually shoots better than my Pro Carry \\m//

very nice setup - thanks for the pics

the only problem with all the great compact 45's suggested is that no one has any to sell

Brazos Custom Gunworks has several STI small .45s in stock.
I just bought the Escort in .45 . Made in Texas. I like that.

Might come in handy with pending Texas legislation that would free up Texas citizens and their guns made in our homeland.

Montana has already taken those steps I am told.

+1 kerryp ... my black Kimber UCII has been ultra reliable and accurate; only thing I've done is swap the grips to add a bit of color .. less than $700 NIB, a great gun and easy to carry ...

I love the feel of my lady's UCII chambered in 9mm... it has a Hogue wrap-around grip on it and when I handled it I fell in love all over again... she hasn't shot it yet and she specifically forbid me from firing it until she gets the chance to first... damn... that's harsh

I have heard of reliability issues with 1911 platforms having less than commander length barrels, but my Springfield Ultra-Compact has been as reliable as any 5" model I have seen and only has a 3 1/2" barrel. The Kimber I had before that was a piece of junk. Very unreliable. I guess it just depends on the brand and individual pistol.

I agree with this, to a degree. I think reliability with compact .45s is great down to and including 3.5 inch models. I definitely have heard of reliability problems with 3.0" models, but, as said above, I really think it varies from company to company. I have a Colt Lightweight Commander and three other 1911's with 3.5 " barrels - Rock Island Compact Tactical, Llama MIniMax .45 and Llama MiniMax 9mm. I have had NO problems with any of them. I also have a Llama MicroMax .32 (3.0" barrel) and have had not problems. I love shooting Government sized 1911s. but I don't like carrying them.

I have a GLOCK 30 SF and a kimber pro carry II. Both are awsome carry guns IMO. The Kimber feels soooooooo good in hand. I love my glock but theres nothing like shooting a nice 1911.

Kimber Stainless UCII here. I put a set of Hogue wraparound grips on it. Shoots like a champ, I have around 2K through it now without one single problem.
