I scanned a few documents and saved them to my flashdrive. I noticed that after scanning them, and attaching them to an email, they came up as "TIF" files. I was expecting it to be scanned and attached as a PDF or Word doc. While the receiver have any trouble opening a "TIF" file? It has me worried now. Thanks.

What software are you using to scan the docs? If you're scanning them through an OCR program into Word then you're fine otherwise, you'll only be able to save them as images (tiff, bmp, etc). Do you have an OCR program?

PM me your phone number and call I'll walk you through it.

TIF or TIFF is a standard image file format.

Irfanview or many other freely available softwares can open it in windows.

Almost any image viewer can open it in linux.

TIF files used to be the native Mac image format.

TIF files are image files, and the windows picture viewer will open those files without any problems.

TIF actually a (TIFF) image file is a Tagged Image File Format. A TIFF image can be edited without losing any of the original quality unlike a JPEG File which every time its edited some quality is lost.

When you scan an image, the software you are using might let you choose what format to save it in, such as "jpg" or "bmp" which most every software will accept.

Or, you could try opening it up in some image editing program, then save it as a "jpg" or a "bmp" format that your friend's software will recognize.
