I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I've been uable to find a thread. Last time I visited a Texas State Park, I found nothing indicating that conceal carry was prohibited (i.e., no proper signage). What experience/knowledge does anyone have on this topic? Is there any restriction to the legal carrying of a concealed handgun?

The possession of a concealed handgun under a CHL is not prohibited in State Parks. See penal code sections 46.03 and 46.035 for places statutorily off limits. You can allso read my blog here on Texas Gun Talk.

Does that mean you cant carry in a state park?
Or you dont need a license?

As txinvestigator said, you can with a CHL.

You can also have it in your vehicle as long as you abide by the restrictions stated in the law.

You can't carry in the park (outside of your vehicle) without a CHL.

And, as you may or may not know, as of 22 February of this year you can also carry in national parks with a CHL, as long as it is valid in the state the park is in.
