Many "legislators" have no understanding of the implications of their decisions until they have caused a big problem. Years ago, Texas had made it technically illegal for a permit holder to carry anywhere on any airport. This was contrary to ICAO treaty policies, FAA regs, and some other longstanding recognized practices. They had to go back and correct this. They should never place greater burden on a person who is qualified and licensed than those on known criminals. Here in next-door Louisiana, the law is that one cannot enter someone's home while legally cc'ing, without notification and permission; but an illegally armed criminal felon with violent criminal intent does not have that obligation. What sense does that make to anyone? We have a couple of local "legislators" who propose failed gun control bills every year. Some of us have offered to help guide them to laws which could pass, and help, such as mandatory penalties for using a stolen firearm in a violent crime; but they aren't interested, they just want voters to see that they hate our 2A. Meanwhile, I sit here and ponder "Shall not be infringed" ! leVieux

For those that don't know, Bass was a well known outlaw that robbed his way to the top, then somehow his offspring became cream of the crop philanthropists spending great grandpa's ill gotten gains that were subsequently re-invested in legitimate venues, and made them the rich and fabulous in Ft. Worth.

Bass hall is a little tidbit thrown back to the community.

Not sure if Sam was related to Perry, never ran across that.

Perry was nephew to Sid Richardson. Sid taught Perry the ropes, and eventually left his fortune to his nephew. Sid, was one of the most important figures in oil history. He is responsible for natural gas being used as an energy source, and for discovering the Permian Basin.

Sid was a philanthropist, and donated a ton to the city of Ft Worth, as well as the Boy Scouts.

There are several really good books on Texas oil history, I’ve read several . The last one I read was called “The Big Rich”. It was a really fun read.
