A disturbing case of child abuse tonight. A father is accused of stabbing his infant son.
It happened Sunday evening inside the high end gated community on staples, known as Buckingham Estates.
The child was stabbed in the left upper chest area. The boy's mother, who is estranged from the baby's father, says her son is o-k, and on Tylenol and an IV at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
"Monday, he came at 5:30 in the morning and said if I don't leave with him he's going to go kill my kids," said Dorathy Johnson as she described her estranged husband his his threats she says he made.
Last week, police believed her and ended up arresting 33 year old Tone Johnson on warrants related to a previous family violence case.
But, then once his mom bonded him out of jail Dorathy said he attempted to make good on his threats.
"My son has a stab wound," she said. "He's only five months old, I was so upset."
At five months old, Antonio Johnson, will likely not remember this later.
He's helpless. Even more so show pictures taken from the hospital.
"I'm not a bad mom. I'm not. They're making it hard for me to even see my kids," Dorathy tearfully told us.
She says because of an often abusive dangerous relationship with her husband, CPS stepped in and she voluntarily placed her three children with her mother in law
Tone Johnson's mother and father live in the up-scale gated Buckingham Estates, where Sunday's stabbing occurred. According to police, while the child was in their care Johnson arrived for a family barbecue. Police believe sometime while the infant was left alone with Johnson, he stabbed his son. The child is expected to be o-k. As far as motive, Dorathy believes it has to do with her.
"He said that he married me. He had three kids by me and he invested a lot into me, and he's not to about to just give up like that."
But, with the latest incident, Dorathy says she's more determined than ever...to finish CPS parenting and counseling classes.
"I'm never going to let this happen again. never, never, never."
