So, I've read several threads on the NFA/Class III process. I just wanted to be sure I understand everything before I start.

    1. Find item you want -- .22LR can
    2. Create Trust -- no prints, as my experience with my CHL prints has been a nightmare. Looks like several of you have used Sean (Houston attorney.com), and he has best price I've found.
    3. Contact Dealer -- they'll usually help with forms
    4. send in forms and $$$$ for stamp
    5. WAIT!!!!!!
    6. Hopefully get approved
    7. WAIT!!!! for paperwork to be returned
    8. Pick up and pay for can
    9. Enjoy!!!!!!

Does this seem correct or is there anything I'm missing?
It seems several of you are "experts" or atleast have done this a time or two. Thanks for any help.

You pretty much have the idea.

1,2,and 3 do not need to be kept in order. Feel free to get advice from a vendor or friend regarding a can at any point and make the choice when ready. You can create the trust, if you go that route, whenver you find time and I would get it out of the way so it is not taking time once you find the can you must have.

    8. Pick up and pay for can

    8. Will need to happen before the paperwork is sent. The can is paid for before paperwork is given to the purchaser. If something happens where you do not pay when the can is approved it puts the dealer in a bad position, holding an item registered to another individual.

Thanks TX1911, guess I should pay more attention before writing a thread thats already answered. :banghead:

No biggie. With the NFA process, it's better to make absolutely sure you got everything down right. If you mess up, you get to wait longer for the stamp, and that's no fun.

Hook up with a dealer in your area, if you are in Houston, www.talonarms.com can help you. If you want to go the trust route, then you might hit up Sean Cody, as he has invaluable experience regarding setting up your trust for NFA items.

    Patience is the main thing.

I can do your trust for you.

The dealers ( or myself) can help you select the proper can.

Only you can have the patience to wait for the ATF.
