    Very classy revolver. S&W M&P, pre model 10. They didn't start using model numbers until 1957. I'd shoot that thing and enjoy it.

    And it's what they call a "five screw" model. Probably mfg in the 1940s but you might want to post your photos on the Smith and Wesson forum to get an exact date. Very very good condition.

    Very nice find! If you ever want to get rid of it, please let me know. After a long and hard search last year, I picked up a mint 4" "skinny barrel" Model 10, and would love to have another one.

    Is "police positive" or "official police" stamped?

    Those are Colt model names. ;)
