I'll never understand what compels an individual (gun dealers in this case) to just be Jerks for no reason. Have you ever called to get pricing or maybe stepped into a Gun Store and from the get go they come at you with a crappy tone or attitude as if wasting their time or as if it pains them to discuss a weapon. When I enquire about gun in person at a store im there to buy. I dont ask for the history of every gun in the glass case. Im courteous and polite. Some people are just severely unhappy with their lives or something else. Wish they wouldnt take it out on the customers. I bought my first gun willing paying over price just cause i finally met a dealer that was ready to take care of a serious buyer in terms of questionnaire, guidance, courtesy, etc. What is most confusing is that you would think a dealer would be motivated to be friendly in the interest in selling....but beyond comprehension that is not the case(not all).

I will now be forced to do the same when it comes to buying my first handgun. I found it nearby for 30 bucks more. I will gladly pay the extra and deal with a positive dealer then some stuck up, old grump.

    Whats your story?

I haven't really had an issue where I live. I've been to several different gun shops in the Boise and surrounding areas and never have ran into a problem.

Generally it's because 10 hours into a 13 hour shift you really don't care to argue with someone about how .45 Auto will leave two smoking shoes if you so much as wing someone with it, and how 9mm is lethargic, but their .38 Special has killed 10 men in Vietnam when they were a Scout Sniper from a moving truck at a range of 1500 yards in a monsoon / tsunami / typhoon. Or how Billy Bob took that raging bull Elephant at 7200 yards with a .22-250. Or how AR's are unreliable, but AKs are the best ever, and how their friend's uncle's brother was an Airborne Ranger that went to Delta Selection and got in, and he uses nothing but a sawed off AK47 and a toothpick, and how they are going to get training from said operator even though they are a 300+ lb. LARPer that spends every dime they earn on more Blackhawk tactical gear, in black of course, because they only are seen at night... never in the woods.

It's nothing on you... but dealing with the morons that walk into a gun store, or call a gun store, will wear down anyone. Especially when you have a gun range attached, and said morons waive guns in your face on a daily basis.

Not bad for $9 / hr.!

That also doesn't necessarily apply to people that are just assholes... those people don't need the excuse.

    so

so what Im hearing is that 10 hrs into a 13 hr shift Im going to be punished for idiots that came into the store prior to me. When I say grumpy dealers I mean people who shove me off before i even finish saying hello. Im not attacking ALL gun dealers. Im more confused then upset with them. Confused as to why they would not be motivated to make a sell.

I'm more or less giving an honest excuse why sometimes the service is sub-par. Some people just don't know what service is, and those people are generally just idiots or assholes. I'm not excusing the latter two.

If someone gives you bad service then just be about your way to someone that will give you better. Eventually time will fix alot of those problems.

Either walk away, make a complaint, go somewhere else, or go on-line.
There are a lot of options one has today for making purchases. Some ways are better than others. Businesses that have store-fronts also have on-line ordering in their business.
As we all know, there is a wealth of information out here in the cyber world. As long as the information is sound.
I feel what’s going to set businesses from others and in the future of dealing with customers….service.

I agree what Texas1911 has to say as well. Post #3. The thing is the challenge the person behind the counter has for customers like that.

well said, thats what I did. That dealer can eat those guns when he cant afford to buy food cause he cant sell product.

And that is exactly what you should do. As a dealer it astounds me that some other dealers are douche nozzles.
