This was Dan Patrick's crusade. He done good. Not bad for a sports-caster that once painted himself blue and did the sports shirtless, to support the Oilers.

From the examples of it that i have seen it was a socialist indoctrination program. "The government is good and will give you what you need if you dont think for your self."

Boston Tea Party was a terrorist act.

    Muhammed was a social activist.

    Capitilism bad, communism good.

Design a new communist country's flag.

    On, and On, and On.

Teachers had to sign that they would not reveal content to parents, or criminal action may happen against them.

Parents that wanted to see their child's curriculuum would be charged hundreds of dollars to look at it, although state law says that parents have the right to review what their children are taught.

    Not a good thing.

CScope was a mandated curriculum software/package (kinda', sorta'). What I saw when I was working in the schools was curriculum changes every couple of years (most brought on by the school boards). The problem was that two years is really not enough time to really see if the package was any good. Compare it to changing your job description and all software every two years. And new curriculum packages are extremely expensive when you consider textbooks, software, training, etc.

How did it get mandated? The question I keep coming back to when reading about it is how? How was it that the local school boards not involved? How were the teachers forced to sign these "contracts" that would have criminal penalties if they reveal the lesson content? Who was able to impose penalties if one refused to sign? How did the Texas education board become disconnected form the process?

edit: No I am not as stupid as the above sounds. I know the real reasons were that citizens were not paying attention. I am still interested in knowing the historial timeline.

When you sign a TEA contract to work for the district, you must do what they say! Not right, but nevertheless .............. done!

Can I get some cliff notes on Public Schools here in Texas?

I've gotten the vibe Perry was pretty pro voucher and charter schools. I've heard of some low cost college offerings but I'd appreciate a little summary on who stands where, who I should support, where long term I should move so my kids are not daily indoctrinated with crap.

Shit! You can get volumes of cliff notes and we still know what's going on! It's all fucking politics. Many don't realize how much money is involved just in textbooks, curriculum, and software! Millions actually. It's a giant business involving lobbyist and politicians and ............................. MONEY!

My children have long since moved through the system personally I would do all possible to home school or private school I believe the public system is so controlled by the liberal agenda that it would be a miracle for a child to go through without absorbing the propaganda. I know it's financially difficult but overall the expense and effort to avoid the public system is best.

We will be looking heavily into secular-ish catholic schools when we reach that point I'm sure. I know the public system I attended in south georgia wasn't so much liberal infested as it was just downright sorry in the quality department.

Just trying to get a feel for the schools in general in this state.
