She's been playing around with my scoped rifles for a while and has decided she wants a scope on her 870 20 gauge.

She uses this one for slugs only for hogs.

I'd like you knowledgable guys to give me mount and scope suggestions.

I'm willing to lay out the cash for a good sturdy mount. Not sure of the scope needed so I of course have no idea what price range I'm looking at.

Eye relief will be important chunking 7/8 oz slugs.
Watch her during recoil, make sure she wont get dinged.

This ^^^^^ If she's not shooting very far a "good" red dot would probably suffice and they can be mounted much further forward than an optical with a 3 or 4" eye relief. Just a thought. Gettin' dinged between the eyes with a scope is not fun, don't ask me how I know!

You guys don't really believe I'd set her up to get scope dinged do you?

She's been shooting since she could hold a gun and has never liked red dots so that's off the table.

She really likes the magnification she sees through my rifle scopes.

She likes what she likes so that's what I have to work with.

    Wasn't implying that at all.
I guess you can call me Captain Obvious.

I never had an optic on a shotgun, so....

Nikon's ProStaff line is supposedly made with shotguns in mind. I had a ProStaff 2-7x32 that I liked a lot. Glass was bright and clear. It was a great value, too. Around $175, IIRC. That being said, I didn't use it on a shotgun, though I did use it on a Mini-14, which is believed by some to be hard on scopes.

I use a Bushnell Banner(shotgun version) 1.5x5 power on 40 cal carbine, low cost scope but I've been satisfied with the clarity and the long eye relief. IMO on a 20 gauge with scope set on 1.5 would be an ideal hog gun, that crosshair makes a huge difference in accuracy, good field of view.

I really appreciate all of your responses. Right now I think it's going to be between the Bushnell Banner that Oldguy recommended and the Primary that Winchster recommended.

Also going to have to check out the scout scopes as I'm not really familiar with them.
