Finally braved the really bad road and tried the Dayton Gun Range. Its on a dirt road a couple miles off FM 1960 between Huffman and Dayton. The guy running the place was working on the parking area. The range itself is nice. The firing line is all covered, and it has concrete floor. You can tell an effort has been made to make the targets easy to get to. I was there by myself so I don't know if they have cease fires every so often.
The cost is great. $8 a gun and $1 per target. Less then half the cost of High Noon. I personally prefer an outdoor range as the staff does not expect me to sort the brass for them, like the lazy staff at the brass only indoor ranges.
All in all this is going to become my first choice range. I'm sure its going to be nicer as time goes by. Just take the road slowly and you will have a good experience. Oh and bring something to drink if you need it.
Note, I do not work for or even know the owners of this range.
