I'm in central TX and the fricking deer are going wild. I had five in the yard last morning at ~7:00 am. There were about 10 two days ago at 6:30 am. I came home from work today at about 4:00 pm and there were about 5 in the street outside my house. At about 5:00 pm, there were 4 more running across my in-laws yard three houses down. I live next to about 40 privately owned acres in the middle of town. I think I need a cross bow.

Amen bro - I hit a deer a couple of years ago - right in front of a middle school zone at 30 MPH. $2500 of damage later . . . The best part was the imprint of it's face on the hood of the Civic. Complete with tongue sticking out.

rut is definitely happening around here. I actually have to tell my kids to watch out. Swollen up bucks are in our front yard this time of year and I really don't want to see one of my kids gored.

    seems really early for rut

but if they're acting crazy and TPWD say different - then so be it

My thoughts exactly. Not the TPWD part. Seems REALLY early for the rut.

I like to fry deer cutlets in olive oil and minced garlic. Really tasty.
