I'll tell you, I've escorted some nasty people behind enemy lines to funerals and wakes. Talk about look who's coming to dinner. Cops dont goto some of these neighborhoods without swat and we took inmates. Just 2 of us. Half the attendees we know from prison lol. Old homie week.

I quit my job with TYC over something like that. As a caseworker, I rejected a request for a juvenile criminal to attend a funeral near the border where his family had criminal ties on both sides. The Ass-istant Superintendent ordered me to approve the event AND accompany the inmate to the funeral. I told the AS(S) that she could approve it, but my name and presence wasn't going to be anywhere on it. She told me to approve it or resign. I resigned. Guess what happened to the inmate?......

Later on, the higher ups, getting tired of the AS and her boss' incompetence, told them both to retire or "be retired". When new supervision took over, I got my old job back.
