Wait, the dude walked around a blind corner where he knew the bad guy was waiting for him? Seriously?

He's lucky the robber wasn't better armed than he was.

Anyway, what is the actual intended purpose for the Desert Eagle? It looks WAY too big to be carried around in a holster, concealed or not.

    Dude was a pedophile.

Bellaire hero who stopped robber arrested again on sexual assault charges | khou.com Houston

A man who made headlines last year after catching a robbery suspect in his Bellaire neighborhood is now facing multiple charges of sexual assault of a minor

"Whenever we take somebody into custody -- especially somebody that's been on TV brandishing a large firearm -- he was an Olympian for another country. We take all of that into consideration whenever we decide to execute the arrest warrant," said Alfredo Perez with the U.S. Marshal's Office.

What's the point of owning a .50cal rifle? Because it has massive power, it's fun, and we can.

Of course. I don't think anyone here is against DEs. We're kinda just saying they aren't very practical for many things.

This. I wasn't suggesting that "because I can" isn't a valid reason to own one if that's what you want. I was just wondering what question the Desert Eagle is the answer to.

Like, is it meant for hunting bears or something? Or is it purely an exercise in making a bigass semi-auto just for the hell of it?

The Wikipedia entry implies that what it's good for is target shooting, but that's not necessarily what the guy that designed it had in mind.

I forgot about the other uses of a DE:

    1) Can opener
    2) Paper hole punch
    3) Bear repellant
    4) Best thing to make your friends jealous with.
    5) Gator guard

I have heard it was made to destroy engine blocks, although I am skeptical (a rifle would be much better).

It was probably just made to make Jewish guys seem cool.
