Ridgelines can be great to set up a quick shelter, or make clothes line to dry clothes or provide privacy with sheets.

In the Infantry when it started to rain, you were either ready, dry and getting rest, or unprepared, wet, and not getting needed rest. Being able to put up shelter quickly is important and handy to dry off clothes if you take a dip in a lake.

As a police officer at crime scenes where dead bodies were out in public, it was important to shield the bodies from the public and news crews. A ridge line could quickly be setup to block views and allow others to still conduct investigations with a covered body. The same setup is good for privacy to change clothes and other things at more public areas.
