Growing up in San Antonio we had four channels.
    4-NBC
    5- CBS
    9-PBS
    12-ABC
Growing up in Hondo, I was supposed to have the same 4 channels. PBS reception, though, was total crap. Our band director used to drive to San Antonio to watch the national drum and bugle corps finals.

I remember going to college and people were talking about Mr. Rogers or characters on Sesame Street. I had no idea about any of it.

In Seguin, we couldn't get channel 9, the PBS channel. Channel 4 and 5 came in pretty clear, but we had to go outside and rotate the antenna a bit to get channel 12. Then rotate it back for channels 4 and 5. I'd usually be the one to go outside. Slowly turn it until Dad would yell "OK, that's it". Ah, the good old days.

A test for old school Texans.

Without Googling it do you know who Captain Gus was?

Were you ever on the show?
Yep, while in San Antonio, we'd tune in every afternoon (M-F) to "do the do" with Captain Gus. I was never on the show. In Chicago when I visited my grandparents it was Garfield Goose and Bozo the Clown.
