I've got a Winchester 1894 in 30-30. I'd like to find an older one like my step father, who bought one brand new in 1958. We like to shoot his 30-30 at the ranch in San Saba. He's got gun mounts on either side of the Gator for the Winchester 94 and the Ruger 10/22. Great rifle for killing hogs and deer.
I don't know if you are still interested in finding an older 1894. I have a saddle ring 1894 with a Winchester crescent butt stock, manufactured in 1928. The photo below is a catalog photo from Rock Island Auction of the rifle I won at auction.

I recently acquired a Savage Model 170 pump 30-30 with a Simmons 3-9x40 8 point scope through an inheritance. I haven't had a chance to go to the range with it yet. Anyone have any informed thoughts or experience with one. I would welcome any comments.

I’ve never seen that gun. Sounds pretty cool!

    I have to confess - I own 6 Marlins in 30-30: 2 - 336 Marauders, 1 - 336, 20" Saddle Ring Texan, 1 - 336, 18" Texan, 1 - 30GT 18" Texan, 1 - 336 20" stainless (only one with crossbolt safety). All are JM Marlins.
WTF are you confessing? With that, you should be legendary! You might need a good old Winchester in the mix, but nobody's perfect.

If one was going to purchase a new lever rifle today would it be a ; 30-30/ 357 .44 mag. I have a 357 revolver ?
When I hunt it is usually 125 yards or less.
Mainly hogs and occasionally a deer
