If its .357 rated, then .38+p is no issue.
    Unless I misunderstood your question.

some lever guns are more oal sensitive than others. i’ve had winchester 92, marlin 94 and various ubertis that didn’t run .38 as reliably as .357. one was so rough, it went off to a cowboy action gunsmith and returned in much better shape.
try it, but be ready to remove the magazine end cap if it locks up too badly.

    Thanks for that.
I was ignorant to that fact.
I thought it was a question about overpowering the weapon.

as written, you answered correctly... i was just reading between the lines.

I ended up trading the Win 92 for a Yellowboy in .38spl.

I have a New Haven (JM stamped) Marlin 1894CB Cowboy Limited with a 20" octagonal barrel.

My current .357 are both Marlins, I’m tempted to have my 24” cowboy cut down to 18 or 20”.

Years ago in the 80's I had a Ruger carbine in 45acp. I was into reloading and didn't like scrambling to pick up cases. I won it at IHMSA region one championship as a door prize. Sold it to guy moving to Alaska.

i wonder if henry can retrofit?
I'm sure there would be lots of machining involved. I may just have to buy the loading gate model and have a spare. Or I could sell my color case hardened Henry 357 and buy a loading gate model, but where's the fun in that.

I got $100 with your name on it if you sell.

Wow. Y'all had better door prizes than I ever saw at any IHMSA shoot.
At a state shoot in NY I won a XP-100 7br. Shooters Choice had a giveaway, send in a post card with the name of the sporting good store you shop. I won $1,000 of shooting supplies, anything I wanted, I got a Browning Buckmark .22 for silhouette shooting.

The Rossi .357 I got lately is so hard to load I barely can get a shell in. I would preferred a tube loader. Can the loading gate spring be replaced with a different one?
