A couple years ago we did some short "hikes" on the trails at the local state park. I really enjoyed it but soon we succumbed to "got too much to do today" or "stayed up late last night, will go in a few days instead"

I should look in to it again. It's the most enjoyable exercise I've ever done. Only carried a small backpack with camelback compartment and a couple snacks. Pulled an off road cart with the kids in it, lol.

You live pretty close to me (about 30 minutes) so I'd be up for meeting up and hiking somewhere. I do need to get a stick, but other than that I'm good to go.

I walk the pasture now and then.
Scrape through some gnarly Creek bottom, bog through some muddy plowed field, shuffle through some shifting sand.
Fun stuff. Probably need to tote some water next time.

I was 12 years old when we moved to Colorado. When I was 13, my 15 year old brother and my dad, along with another man my dad new convinced us to climb Longs Peak. I hated the experience. And to this day I have NEVER enjoyed hiking and or back packing. If you are unfamiliar with this, google LONGS PEAK. It's only a thirty miles from my house to the base of Longs Peak.

With my wife, we used to lead 'bird hikes' at Brazos Bend SP.

    Can't anymore.

Too beat up and voice is out of commission, not mention ruined back and eyes that are developing into being photo sensitive.

Long distance running (10-20 miles per outing) or long distance in-line skating (at night) was once one of my passions, along with long distance sea kayaking and long, solo salt water wade fishing using lures. Plus other hobbies, but they're too many to list. OK, one: Cave diving.

All things of the past, as mentioned previously, too beat the hell up.

But man, it was a hell of a ride!

I turned 62 a few months back. I've been away from the internet since 2005. Kind of hard to get used to navigating around in here. Sorry for being a pain, but I am trying very hard to assimilate.
