This is something I never thought of, and it makes complete sense. If you are filling a role in the Army during war time and you are suddenly out of that role for 3 - 12 months, then you are leaving your unit shorthanded, and that isn't how the Army should operate.

This is one of the most idiotic policies ever. I had a friend, a reservist, that got unexpectedly called up and shipped to Afghanistan. She's there two weeks and - surprise - she's late, test confirms she's pregnant. She gets shipped home. Would she be in trouble under this policy?
This policy would not have happened under Bush, it's a pro-abortion policy.

I have to admint, I tend to agree with DC on this one. We do a lot of stupid things, as a society, to enforce the idea that men and women are the same (as opposed to equal).

Men and women aren't the same.

I have no issues with women in the military but not in a front line unit but more in support roles.
I can see this being a viable law if they become pregnant while on active duty but not as a pre-existing condition. That is just like being AWOL in a sense.
Women can be just as tough as any man out there but mixing men and women together is a forward field environment is just asking for trouble IMO!

This policy is only valid in the AOR. Whenever you go to the AOR you are briefed extensively that you aren't suppose be messing around. The unit suffers if a women inside the AOR becomes pregnant because she has to be shipped home and they are shorthanded. If she becomes pregnant at home no one cares policy wise and no one is hurt.

    +1 on that.

Good luck outlawing sex. Just remove the women from the situation. Our troops don't need any distractions anyway. I have no problem with equal rights and all that, but can some things just be a mans job? Sometimes integration can be a bad thing.

We must also think of the women that get pregnant to get out of service duty. "I don't want to be here anymore, so I will just get knocked up."

I'll admit, I'm a pig. I do not like women in the military to begin with.

Agreed, dos pigs. The far left starting with Clinton have done everything possible to reduce standards in the military trying to make it reflect America, sorry but I want our military to have higher standards each year, but I'm extremely old fashioned. No women in combat except nurses.

    Some problems about pregnancy

When I'm pregnant or nursing I tend to lower my expectations of myself. There is no way to get EVERYTHING done to the degree I would like it to. So, tell me, what have you let go?

Initially I was skeptical about women filling front line roles, and I was raised to respect women and it is my DNA to be protective and father-like towards the "weaker" sex. For the last seven years many of these warrior women have protected me and my fellow teammates outside the wire and I must say say most if not all conducted themselves heroically. I still think men in war are more expendable then women because they bear our young and we men are designed to fight to the death to protect them but............. I found it was usually the men that were the actual problem when women were filling traditional man roles. As example, a guy will let another fight his own fight and shoulder his own load, but will drop everything including his own responsibilities to "take care" of a woman in perceived need. I guess we can't help it. We had a female Captain that was the OIC of a trans company that provided escorts to the commercial trucks. Her handle was "Mother Goose". She was smoking hot and one of the best warriors I ever had the honor of meeting. Any man that ever had the nads to speak one ill word about her would have found themselves quickly on the bottom of a big ole pile truck drivers (most from Texas) and the small ones weighed 275lbs. Truck drivers usually come in two sizes......large and extra large. All of that said, I would prefer the women staying out of the fight and let the men take the risk for them because women are more precious, but God Bless the gals who have answered the call to arms.
