dpms lite 16

i have a dpms lite 16 its the standard fixed handle rifle, i going to swap the upper to a flat top and i want to swap the front iron sight to a yhm flip up is it possible to swap the front sights?

The front sight is removable from the barrel. You will need to add a gas block, as it is part of the sight. I'm not familiar with the yhm, so I can't help you there.

Like King said above, yes it is no problem to switch out. Have you considered a free float rail? You might like that setup more. You can cut the sight base off your gas block and get a rail that is long enough to cover the block and mount your sight to the rail. The sight wouldn't get as hot, which is nice if you want to flip/fold it a lot.

I have thought about a free float and plan on getting one. I'm also looking at a gas piston conversion like the hk 416.

They are fun to shoot. I highly recommend getting a .22LR conversion for it, then you can shoot all day for hardly anything.

I've found them for as little as $130. The ciener conversion comes with an ugly mag, I recommend getting the nicer plastic one that looks like it belongs on an AR.

FYI - the kits prefer Federal ammo. At least, that is what I have been told. That's all I have run through mine, so I can't confirm it. I have had no problems with mine, be sure to oil it heavily before use.
