I've got another batch of ducklings for sale. Cayuga/Rouen mix; $5 each...
Best hatch rate so far. Last batch sold out before I could post

Notice the one at the end that backs away from the others before it poops? That's a polite duck!

Well I can confirm they are delicious
I prefer to keep them around for eggs, tho. I only butcher one if it gets injured.

What all is involved in taking care of them? How much cholesterol are in their eggs compared to a chicken egg? I'm not on a LDL diet but I do need to watch what I eat so I don't get high cholesterol according to the doc. Better to start taking care of it now rather than when its a problem later according to him and I agree.

They need water deep enough to dunk their head in, but unless you want to deal with them splashing it all out then it needs to be something too small for them to climb in. A 2 or 3 gal bucket works prefect. They don't really need much else. You can build nesting boxes for them, but they don't "roost" like chickens do. They sleep wherever. I let mine run around the back yard, but I put them in a pen at night with a nesting box so I don't have to hunt for the eggs all over the yard

Ducks eggs have more of everything, including cholesterol, but they are supposed to have more HDL than chicken eggs. I think it depends on what you feed them, tho. You could probably engineer a diet for them that will produce less LDL overall.

We have two large ponds, and I'd love some ducks, but they wouldn't last long. The coyotes would get them. :(
    Nightvision hunt at Maverick's place!
