    Gus Engling WMA:
    What's not to like?
Over 10k acres, I got to hunt on over 2k acres.
I hunted in terrain from old growth oak forest, swamp river bottoms, sandy scrub brush, to open fields with persimmon and grape on the edges.
The camp areas had campfire rings and grills, along witg a limited number of camp shelters.
    Room for RV's.
    No ATV's allowed.
I really enjoyed my time there.

    Lessons learned:
    Bring a cot.
    Scent is important when stalking.
Bring more cigars (other hunters really liked them at camp, good conversation starter).

I used to drive by there on my way to school every morning! Would love to get drawn to hunt there! How can I start the process?

I got the Annual Public Hunting permit, then applied for their 'postcard' hunt. I think they have other hunts, youth and archery and a spring turkey/varmit hunt.
The Texas Parks & Wildlife website has the info.
