Electric Smokers

    so what do you think about ugly drum smokers ?

    How much work are they to run compared to pellets ?

    An electric smoker is a pretty simple thing to make. Single burner electric plate with a pan for the wood. Shelved Coke merchandise that no longer cools are a great choice, because of the various sizes they come in & adjustable racks. The windows don't hurt either. Seen them built ot of galvenized trash cans & terra cotta planters.

    I guess some guys just like the fancier ones for bragging rights.

    More work, but IMO, a better product. I ditched my drum for one with a fire box about 25 years ago. Much easier to use, but not as easy as a electronic smoker. Sticking with my New Branfels smoker. Building the right fire is part of why I like it better.

    This is what I use....seems to do just fine. And, yes - that IS one on top of the pit!! lol

    Does the smoke come out of the barrel end like a working pistol, or out of the ejection port like a jammed 1911?

    Neither - SOME of us understand that wood smoke doesn't belong in a gun. Yer a glock owner, ain't ya?

    HEH...dis ain't nuttn hunney....on the Mercedes site it was quite the ordeal not to throw up in your mouth after reading just a few posts.

    Personally ah don'ts care how the meats gets cooked, either....lol.......I've watched a lot of Cowboy Rollins videos and man can't wait for house to get built. I've got oak limbs drying seasoning outside and have more to harvest this winter....woo-hoo.....
