I have been having a few issues with 2 of my AR builds not firing every round. One is a 9mm pistol build from the ground up & the other a new 7.62x39 complete upper. Both seemed to have light primer strikes on good and cheap ammo with stock firing pins. So I ordered up new ones & took them for a spin today. The 9mm ran 100 rounds of 2 types of ammo & even rounds that had previous light primer strikes with no issues. The 7.62x39 ran the rounds from previous trip that had light primer strikes so all is now good.
The 9mm has the Palmetto State enhanced firing pin & the 7.62x39 has a Red X.

If you have any issues with light primer strikes try an enhanced firing pin versus heavy hammer springs. Hammer springs will effect your trigger pull & still might not fix light primer stikes... my .02

Thank you for sharing. My current fix for ar firing pins running 762x39 is turning down the fillet area to give it more protrusion.

I messed with the 9mm firing pin a little bit but not owning a mic or caliper I didn't want to take too much off.
I ran it on the drill & with some sandpaper & it helped a little bit but not a total fix

That's what I was thinking. Machining can leave rough spots on the pin or in the channel inside the bolt. A little polishing on the pin can overcome the issue many times.

But firing pins are relatively cheap too so sometimes the upgrade is easier than the hassle.

Glad you got them working OP.

Glad you got your x39 running. Those primer strikes were really light.

Yeah that day we went, it didnt help that i was running a RED JP hammer spring too. I went the following day after i put the stock hammer spring back in & it ran a few rounds but not all of them.
Now it runs all light striked ones too.
