    Trey,

Right, who's monitoring and why would they bother?

The great 'they' as in 'they' are listening to your every word?

Or do they ping only on your conversation when key words are invoked?

So it's not only alexa or siri as all gadgets with a microphone are listening in to all our conversations?

Hey, I'm not totally disagreeing 'they' don't, but it seems rather a grandiose conspiracy theory that all electronics housing a microphone are bugging the public at large.

Things like Siri, Alexa, and whatever google uses work a little different than just speaking in to the phone.

In order to understand what you say they actually record your speech.

Aside from that, when you say something to Siri, Alexa, etc you are recorded and the recording is sent to a server where it is translated for the computer. There are many cases where it’s been shown that these translations are also recorded and saved.

So it’s much different than speaking with someone on the phone.

You know that cabinet is cool but I also do t like the Aleza thing. A savy person could make that with a Raspberry Pi. I'm not sure on voice commands but a button for sure.

You are talking about they, which I never mentioned just microphones in general. I didn't come up with the conspiracy. You asked about microphones on flip phones. I simply answered yes which is correct, not to the extent of what they are used for. It's a mute point though because you are clearly using a device of some sort on the internet just as I am which has a microphone.
