    Here's the one they'll require. It not only stops the gun from firing if you're not the owner but also won't allow you to fire if you're in the wrong place and can be disabled by any law authority.

    Go ahead and chip the gun but makeit so it fires in the absence of a bracelet.
    Then put the damned bracelet on every convicted person who can't legally own a gun.

    Then put the damned bracelet on every convicted person who can't legally own a gun.

    The bracelet wouldn't work in that scenario. The human side of things would need to be something permanent that can't be (easily) removed or broken - something like an RFID chip implanted under the skin or something.

    All they need to do is get the technology made, adopted and then mandate it in the name of consumer safety so the CPSC can get involved, non-compliant manufacturers can be sued, etc.

    Then they can make the ammo electronic, and do the same with ammo.

    Then all the old guns and ammo don't work.

    Then you make components unsafe... and do the same.

    Then you can't reload.
