    If we could mix the 1911 and Hi Power, maybe lighten it up with a polymer frame, even add a light rail and trigger safety it would be about perfect.

    They both have good features. Discarding the bad ones is the key.

    Well shit. According to the article:
    "In response to the clear and overwhelming demand for these firearms to be used throughout the entire course, our instructors have decided to accommodate all safe, reliable handguns with a capacity of 6 rounds or more."
    I guess my 5 round SP101 is out.

    Glad they pulled their heads out anyway.
    It's funny... If it had been about capacity from the start, then why didn't they just state the minimum capacity requirements from the beginning? Excluding the 1911 by name is just odd. There's other single stack guns out there... Guess you could have taken the course with a P6 or PPK??

    I'm starting to think they wanted the controversy for publicity.
