I saw that when it aired. It seems the same thing is happening in the offshore oil & gas industry. The market is a factor, yet there are back door deals driving the mergers and acquisitions. Google Valaris class-action law suits.

Isn't this the 80s corporate raiders taken to the next level?

Until we figure out how to keep big corporate money out of political campaigns it's not going to improve.

I cant believe that guy only buys one party, they typically hedge their bet by wagering on all the horses...

I still wonder 'what happened to Cabela's'. The store in Sydney is still in business, supposedly Cabela's is thriving (source). So, how is it that 2,000 folks in Sydney lost their jobs because of the merger between Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's? Did BPS fire everyone who worked there and import or hire new workers? The store is still open, sill doing business, still holding holiday sales (ongoing as I key this in) - so who is manning the stores if 2,000 folks lost their jobs AND did a single Cabela's actually employ 2,000 folks or did the town's economy otherwise dry up and folks lost their jobs not related to Cabela's?

Edited to add: Never mind, I found out their headquarters was closed there. That probably led to the decline in the local economy.

It was the headquarters, that was my understanding.

    Gunz are icky.
I’m guessing is the corporate HQ folks who are getting axed.
BPS already has the REMF’s so no need for a double team.

The low level store folks are probably okay for now.

I remember the Cabelas they opened in Kansas and before Bass Pro bought them out. They had the cheapest gun prices around, I lived in MO so I couldn't purchase them unless I had them shipped across the Stateline. Bass Pro even their big store in Springfield always sold guns at MSRP unless occasionally they gave you 30 bucks off. Since then the usually wwith sell all their guns at MSRP with an occasional discount.

Cabelas in League City off I45 is a good store.

I've bought guns there on sale that were priced well below the usual asking price and the guys at the gun counter know their stuff.

While in route to Bootheville/Venice I always stop at the store in Gonzales, LA to stretch my legs and admire the treasures in the Fine Gun Room. I haven’t seen one of those in a BP yet.
