I'm amazed that Farcebook, with its headquarters in the Peoples' Socialist Яepublik of Kalifornia, actually admitted that First AND Second Amendment rights would not be infringed on that service.

Well, FB not being the government can't infringe on Constitutional rights, but you know that.

FB sucks. I'd imagine this is just a business decision, it would cost them a lot of money to constantly scrub facebook of 2A content. Eventually they will try it, same with google and the web hosts.

I fully anticipate the gun culture to be driven underground and marginalized if we can't solidify and and strengthen our rights and get them to be seen as mainstream and legitimate.

This is where I am an old fuddy duddy as to caring about what FB allows or doesn't allow. I don't put a foot print there and although it may be short sighted on my part I could give a rats ass as to what they allow or don't allow.
To me FB is a fools game.

I completely understand the sentiments of not wanting to waste one's live on social media. Believe me I understand that. That being said, consider this. The past two elections and literally the entire reason Obama is in office is because his campaign absolutely killed everyone else' on social media. Much of the younger generations flocked in droves to him because of that. McCain's campaigns were a complete joke when it came to social media. Through catering to that stuff and using some spammy and unethical techniques to fake the appearance of massive support, Obama won the presidency twice in a row. I think that says all we need to know about how powerful different types of media can be when utilized to their fullest. One funny thing to note is that the official Obama Twitter account, when I ran it through a program that checks the legitimacy of it, shows that over ~50%, IIRC, of the followers are fake spam accounts (something like 10+ MILLION).

I slightly disagree with "entire"; there was an awful lot of "anybody but Bush" in the air when he was first elected and that sentiment helped him. (Yes, I know that's irrational.)

However, that's just a quibble. Clearly, the mastery of social media and especially the information gleaned from it put the guy over the top. GOP efforts in that arena were laughable. As far as I can tell, they still are.

I feel as though there's a slight reluctance to accept the younger generation and newer elected officials within the established echelons of the GOP, and with that a reluctance (or minor inability) to adequately conform to what the younger generation is doing to exchange information.

"The victory isn’t total. Facebook will continue to allow guns to be sold through its pages, but it will take down postings in which sellers specifically advertise that they will not conduct a background check or that they are willing to sell across state lines. Facebook will also block people registered as younger than 18 from viewing gun ads.

Facebook will establish a “dedicated channel” for advocates and the public to flag gun sales that don’t comport with the new policies. Once items are flagged, they may be taken down.

“We believe these collective efforts represent the right approach in balancing people’s desire to express themselves while promoting a safe, responsible community,” Monika Bickert, Facebook’s head of global policy management, said in a statement.

Replace the word slight with major. The problem is similar to the GOP trying to reach out to minorities. Even when they make a genuine attempt, it comes of as clumsy and not sincere because they dont "get" it.

I've always thought the.conservative platform was simple. Reaching out to minorities is racist. If they prefer big government and hand outs there is nothing we can do.

The wording vague to say the least.
So does "not conduct a background check" include a private/FTF sale?
And as far as "willing to ship across state lines", will that include to an FFL, as isn't any other way illegal to start with?

And the 18 or older is a joke or is FB somehow verifying that your birth date you enter is actually real??

Just one more reason not to accept friend requests from every flake you've ever rubbed elbows with. 99.999999999% of Facebook users need to be WAAAAAAAY more discriminative with who they allow to view their content.

To be honest you can get into someone's head just as good, or perhaps even better than FB, by reading their forum posts.
