Just wanted to start a thread to find out more about the camping situation at tssr. Anyone have information besides its a field? Is it tent only or tent and rv, when can we set up, can we have a small camp fire and maybe we can get a list of those planning on camping.

I just got off the phone with Rick - the owner. The camping area will be mowed because it doubles as their archery area. He prefers you show up for camping before closing time, but if for some reason that's just not possible then let him know so he can make arraignments to have someone there (They lock the gate to the parking lot after hours which is also the only point of entry for a vehicle). There is a water spout outside so you do have running water.

ok cool and to the mods for some reason the discussion thread does not show up for me and the link does not work. I am sorry for posting a repetitive thread. Since I could not find out info when I called could someone who knows who to talk to find out about things like is it only tent or rv, Small camp fires?

I didn't ask him about the RV but I know he's out working on the berms right now so I'm trying not to harass him too much.

As far as the wildfires go, ultimately it will be up to him (which again - I didn't think to ask), but there IS currently a burn ban in that county. You can get daily updates on this map - watch for Lampasas County.

This is why we don't make a new thread for every question...

I somehow missed that post. And this was not just about questions about camping it was to see who was going to camp too. If I had posted this in the general discussion of the meet it would be mixed with all kinds of other topics.

Got some info for those who are camping to share. Talked to James and RV's are allowed but obviously no power. Water is on the back side of the main building. If we bring one of those fire pits that stand up off the ground (those things you get for back yards) we can do a small fire But absolutely no fires on the ground.

So who else will be camping? besides the one other member that will have 3 tents, can not remember user name.

Archery/Camping area. The bottom two are the gate you'll be entering to camp. Its the gate to the left of the main gate. Maybe 50 ft down. The manager said he will probably just shut down the Archery area for campers.

Campers/ tents make good archery targets.

With all the discussions about crossbows we may want to keep that area open. Not sure if anybody is bringing anything though.

My thoughts also come from a standpoint of not disturbing normal range operations. I would hate to see archers show up and get denied because of us.

I haven't seen the layout but maybe we can keep camping equipment toward the firing line end of the property so people could use the area.

I have a crossbow that I might be able to fit in. Ain't fancy, but it shoots. Middle boy might bring his recurve bows too if anyone wants to try them.
