Are such a damn joke. The wife and I are expecting our second child in September so we've been getting all the medical bill stuff lined out. For how expensive insurance is they damn sure dont cover much. Even with insurance its going to cost us 6 grand plus 15% of the costs over that. Which is well over 50% more than I paid for my son just over two years ago. Just so damn aggrivating that I try to be a contributing member to society and pull my own weight but then there are people who breed for a living who you know damn well dont pay for shit. Theyre so damn poor that theyre on the government tit so their expenses are actually cheaper than mine. Seems ass backwards to me, but I suppose its right along the lines of how income taxes go for me every year.

I know its probably a stupid rant, and one that everyone deals with but Im just pissy that my new suppressors and 300WM build fund is gone.

Plenty of maturnity plans will have like a 5 or 6 thousand deductable. . .. . .thats about what it costs. Mine used to.

You might shop hospitals to get rates, (but your probably stuck where your OB has privaledges anyways.) Sorry about the money.

    Congrats on the baby.

    First, Congrats on the baby.

Second, call the hospital and talk to them about their cost for delivery. When My son was born, we simply pre-paid the hospital $4000 for the birth, and didn't even use our insurance because of the same problems. It was cheaper, and a lot less headache. We still used the insurance for all of the pre-delivery stuff, check ups, etc al.

    Congratulations on the kiddo.

I got off good. Just finished paying all the medical bills for our delivery. It ended up being 2000 out of pocket.
But 6000 bucks? I'd call em and ask em what they'd be willing to work out for cash. I think the payout for everything was around 8000. Hospital (we stayed 4 nights), her lady bits doctor w/ prenatal, anesthesiologist, a consult with a specialist and accompanying ultrasound, and an induction.

    First off, congratulations man.

Second, definitely ask/call around, see if there's a way to work out a lower payment or even a payment plan if you can't afford everything all at once. In my experience, most hospitals are willing to do some sort of compromise if cash flow is an issue.

Third, best of luck, to all of ya.

    Congrats on your child!

Now, good lord these insurance companies are outrageous. My wife had 3 insurances, 3! We still had to pay a decent copay, but I don't remember the entire bill being more than about 6000 including what the insurance paid. That's crazy you have to fork out more than that.
