A model 94 Winchester is my favorite. Because it was my fathers.

I also like those new-fangled AR-14s with that 30 round bullet clip for those deer that are wearing Kevlar. FJB.

Well I started with aM94 in 30/30. Then my beloved 6mm. I shot many deers and then Gifted it to my first grandson. So now that I am d and have a few $$ I go to the Weatherby .257 for open country and a .308 for close work. Thinking about another 6 or a 243

My Ruger M77 chambered in .280 Remington has been putting meat in the freezer for 2 decades now. Probably dozens of hogs and numerous deer in that time. It has done everything I've asked of it and definitely has the highest ROI of any firearm I've owned.

In the early years of ownership I was using Winchester ballistic silvertip now exclusively hand loaded 139gr Hornady BTSP. For whitetails and just about anything else in Texas it's plenty of rifle. It wears an older generation Vari X III by Leupold in 4-10x. It still amazes me that about a hundred 4 wheeler rides later it's still holding a tight zero. If I had to grab an alternate it would probably be my Howa in 308.

I started with 270 and then decided to try 25.06 years ago and quickly switched back to 270 and have stuck with it. I use a Winchester XPR and it is great. Not a fancy rifle and nothing to look at, but it is very accurate and does the job. I have thought about moving to a nicer rifle a few times, but not sure the cost is worth it with how good the XPR performs.
