Never loaded ammunition with these primers before and thought they looked weird. Any one seen anything like this before?

    The purple?

It’s normal. Think it’s a federal thing, all my GMM primers have been colored. Think it’s a sealer or something but never bothered to look it up.

Thanks, guess I'll go ahead and use 'em. Over thirty-five years reloading and this is the first time I've ever used Federal primers. Rookie mistake! :o

I've used quite a few. The only knock on them that I've heard is that they're really soft. Not great to use on guns with floating firing pins - unless that's what you're looking for.

I have been a heavy user of Federal primers since 1969.
The Federal boxes have a colored dot on the end flap that matches the color code of the sealer on the primer. The FED #210 large rifle primer is red.
