Can't seem to come up with the correct search string for this.

In a FTF transaction, is the potential buyer's drivers license marked some way

to identify a felon? What does a felon's license look like? I have sold/traded firearms

with friends and people I know, but no transactions with strangers.

Can someone clue me in on this?

They could start tattooing felons. That'd be an easy way to spot them. Lower forearm would be easy to do. Plain cheap black ink.

Just line them up. Have some kinda camp to house them as they get tattoos. Forget the drivers license.

Too far too fast, let's be reasonable and start off with patches they are required to sew on their clothes.

Use to be when you had staple holes through your DL that was a bad thing.

I hope the new member that started this thread understands all the humor in it. :)

But no, you can not determine from a Texas Drivers License if a person is a felon by just looking at it.

If you are unsure of the person, walk away. No deal is worth the anxiety from wondering later, there will always be another buyer.

Many people will be ok with flashing a CHL so you can see their picture on it. Not many will allow you to collect the information from it or from the DL either. Just something to consider.

The vast majority of convicted felons will not attempt to purchase a firearm face to face. But never say never. If you feel the need, simply ask. It is not out of line to state "In Texas it is unlawful for a convicted felon to possess a firearm, I do not wish to be involved in such a transaction, are you a convicted felon?" If they say no, you proceed. If they say yes, you're done, walk away.
